What is Chasing Bohème?
Hi, and welcome to Chasing Bohème!
You can call me, Zefa :)
I was born in a bustling metropolitan city in Indonesia, but much of my childhood was spent nomading from one island to another in the eastern part of Indonesia. Looking back, those were the first sparks of my adventure.
I’ve now spent more than 15 years in Paris, where I built my career, started a family, and shaped much of my adulthood. Yet I often feel that while I am no longer fully Indonesian, I am not entirely French either. Somewhere between the Occidental and the Oriental, I’ve found myself chasing treasures from my travels — whether an object, a feeling, a place, or a chance encounter. Each one became more than a souvenir; it was a way to hold onto meaning, memory, and pieces of my becoming.
Chasing Bohème was born from this spirit. It is my journal of in-between spaces: reflections on culture, motherhood, and how my perspective shifts as I learn to travel slower (especially now with a little one in tow). Here, I’ll share glimpses of countries, people, and traditions I’ve been fortunate to cross paths with.
I hope that as you read along, you’ll discover small pieces of beauty and inspiration for your own path too.
Thank you for being here and let’s connect x
